Just weeks after Liegruppen took delivery of Libas, the company has ordered a new Salt-designed pelagic trawler from Cemre Shipyard, Turkey.
This time it is a trawler of 71 x 15 meters.
Subject to confirmation from Enova, the ship will be equipped with bow foils from Wavefoil.
The new trawler will be the world’s first fishing vessel having retractable bow foils installed. The foils are installed in the bow of the vessel and will contribute considerably to reduce motions and energy consumption in waves. This will, in turn, reduce the fuel consumption and emissions considerably, whilst increasing the safety and comfort for the crew on board. The system will also enable the vessel to maintain higher speeds in rough conditions. The Lie family is known to embrace new technologies in their vessels and have in this project acknowledged Wavefoil as a significant contributor to a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and safe fishery.
The new trawler will also be equipped with a battery pack and electric winches.
For Salt, it is a great recognition that Liegruppen again choose to use Salt design, just weeks after they have taking delivery of Libas.
