The price is awarded to the owner, designer and builder of an offshore support vessel delivered in 2017 which is considered to have set an industry benchmark through innovative design and efficient operation.
Four vessels were shortlisted for the prize, and Maersk Master, the first of a series of six SALT200 AHTS vessels for Maersk Supply Service, was awarded the prize at the annual OSJ Conference. Three of the AHTS vessels are now delivered from the builder Kleven AS.
The new anchor handlers, of which Maersk Master is the first, are unlike any others currently on the market and are a “premium asset that is second to none in terms of operational reliability, onboard safety, comfort and client offerings», according to owner Maersk Supply Service.
They are uniquely designed for a variety of work roles including deep water anchor handling and mooring operations, towing of rigs, subsea and ROV support work, as well as general supply and cargo support operations for customers world—wide. These specialized vessels have highly skilled crews, optimal safety conditions and state-of-the art equipment to help customers achieve their goals in a professional and cost-effective manner.
This is the second time a Salt design has been awarded the OSV award. The very first offshore vessel designed by Salt, «Juanita» Salt100 PSV, won the price in 2015.
