Ugland Offshore newest Platform Supply Vessel got the 'Support Vessel of the Year' award for 2015. The Offshore Support Journal award was presented at the Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference Gala Dinner in London 18 February 2015.
The vessel represents extraordinary innovative design solutions in propulsion and cargo handling. There are many new designs claiming to be unique, however Juanita is really unlike any other of this type of vessel. The SALT 100 PSV has a completely new type of propulsion system – and a cargo handling system that enables the transport of large quantities of chemicals, which are increasingly important for oil companies. Although Juanita at first eye looks like other Platform Supply Vessels, the vessel distinguishes considerably below the waterline, with two counter rotating propellers individually controlled by permanent magnet motors, and a particularly flexible cargo handling, says the jury.
Juanita has been in operation for Statoil since delivery from Kleven yard in May 2014.
